Product Description
SM450N
The SM450N is a manually operated 20 port linear smoking machine complying with the design requirements of ISO3308 and capable of smoking under ISO and intense smoking regimes (e.g. Canadian Intense, Massachusetts, etc.). The SM450N is integrated with two chemiluminescent analyzers, each coupled to a manifold of 10 ports and offers a choice of analysis for NO or NOx (NOx = NO + NO2) during a smoke run. Each bank of 10 ports can be configured independently for a smoking run.

NOx species are highly reactive with a very short half life in the vapour phase of mainstream smoke necessitating analysis on a puff by puff basis. In the SM450N this is accomplished by relocating precision 210ml puff engines as close to the smoking ports as possible, minimizing the dead volume of the system.
Puff engines are used to draw in the filtered smoke and then exhaust the smoke at a controlled rate into the chemiluminescence analyzer. By collecting the smoke from 10 ports into a single manifold and then exhausting into the analyzer a homogeneous representation of each puff is presented to the analyzer for measurement. Surplus vapour bypasses the analyzer and is exhausted, and the puff engines are ready for the next puff. Minimal mixing of subsequent puffs occurs in this system.
The intuitive computer-controlled user interface gives wide freedom of customization of smoking regimes using the precision 210 ml stepper controlled smoking engines. As to be expected from a computer controlled process all data is contained within an ODBC compliant database with easy to use tools allowing export to an external database or LIMS system.
An optional enhancement is available through the purchase of a GxP equipment validation package and a security package designed to comply with FDA 21 CFR part 11 requirements.
